Introducing Clear Returns
Glasgow based technology startup Clear Returns combines ecommerce, analytics and mathematical skills, with fashion and retail experience. Part of the high profile accelerator Entrepreneurial Spark, supported by Sir Tom Hunter and Sir Willie Haughey, Clear Returns has also been selected as one of Scotland’s High Growth Startups.
Complementing the core team, the Clear Returns’ advisory panel includes digital marketing guru Jim Sterne, fashion retail expert Lorraine Howard and ecommerce customer experience practitioner Tim Leighton Boyce.
Vicky Brock, CEO
Vicky began her career in direct marketing, including working on Tesco Clubcard, one of the pioneers of retail intelligence.
She co-founded award winning digital insight agency Highland Business Research, running the company for 7 years and leading the company to become Scotland’s first Google Analytics Certified Partner and first Google Analytics Authorised Trainer outside the US. She recently served 4 years on Board of the US-based Digital Analytics Association & speaks internationally on analytics. Vicky previously worked with HP, creating their initial pan-EMEA analytics programme.
Ellie Turner, Business Development Manager
A recent first class Honours graduate of the Fashion Business programme at Glasgow Caledonian University, Ellie’s technical knowledge of garment construction, production and design bring specialist fashion industry skills to the Clear Returns team. Ellie has also conducted extensive retail industry focussed research around product fit and returns.

Stephen Budd, Head of Product
Stephen’s background lies in making sense of data and building a coherent and convincing stories that can be used to drive business planning and optimisation. A strong background in humanities and business is combined with a focus on the technical and practical to develop systems and processes that eliminate the ‘pain points’ in doing business.
Stephen co-founded and managed Highland Business Research with Vicky Brock and is a Google Analytics Certified Partner. He previously worked as a data product manager at the London Stock Exchange and was recently a Regional Chair of the Institute of Directors in Scotland.
Matt Clarke, CTO
Internet retail technologist Matt has worked in digital for the past 12 years and specialises in e-commerce and web analytics development. He has a wide-ranging skillset acquired while developing, editing and managing content and e-commerce websites for publishers and retailers, and is currently studying for a Master’s degree in internet retailing at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Prior to working in e-commerce, Matt worked for Bauer Media, Europe’s largest magazine publisher, where he was editor-in-chief of Practical Fishkeeping, the world’s best-selling aquarium magazine, and Pet Product Marketing, the leading magazine for the pet trade. During his time at Bauer, Matt was heavily involved in online and developed, launched and managed several successful websites.
Shaylon Stolk, Predictive Modelling Scientist
Shaylon graduated with honours from Amherst College, and earned her MSc at the University of Glasgow in 2011 with a thesis on statistical analysis of marine ecosystems. Before joining the Clear Returns team, she applied her modelling skills to wind farm planning and development.
